Back in 1977, Shruti and Atul, cousins of Paresh Rajda, were holidaying in Germany and sent back the usual ‘Wish you were here' postcard, with a fateful P.S.: “The family we are staying with are in the glove business; can you find someone in India who can supply them?”
Ever the spirited entrepreneur, it didn't take Paresh Rajda long to decide that the ‘someone' was himself. And from being a trader in plastics and chemicals, he set up a glove manufacturing and exporting company which is today among India's top five.
rajda Industries and Exports Pvt. Ltd. manufactures around seven million pairs of work gloves a year, which are exported around the globe. They go to all the countries of the European Union as well as to Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, some eastern European countries and the USA.
rajda has earned the ISO 9001-2000 certification for its quality management system. The company also manufactures EN certified products for undeviating compliance with the stringent standards set by the European Union.
While all the standard varieties of gloves are certainly available from rajda, the company prides itself on a working methodology that differentiates it from its competitors.
As Paresh Rajda puts it, “Rather than offer a standard catalogue of readymade gloves, we prefer to interact with the customer and re-engineer our gloves to make them safer and more convenient to use.”
